What does the beauty before us convey to our hearts? Beautiful places evoke a gasp followed by a sigh. An audible release of tension. Sometimes we don’t know we are carrying tension until we feel ourselves relax. What is it about beauty that allows us to breathe deeply, to rest?
It tells us we are cared for. It lets us know we are loved.
Several years ago, I received a package in the mail from one of my best friends. I opened it to find a quilt she had sewn for me. It made me cry. Why is this so meaningful? She created something beautiful for me. She cares for me. She loves me.
For this is what the LORD says-- he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited-- he says: "I am the LORD, and there is no other.
God designed this amazing planet for us to live in and enjoy. We are cared for. We are loved.
